I have spent the last few days talking to other parents who are just as heartbroken as I am about losing this tradition. We are putting together a formal proposal for the office to show that security concerns can be managed without ruining the day for the students. It is difficult to watch the joy drain out of the school calendar when we have simple solutions ready to go.

Seeing this much momentum behind our cause confirms that I am not the only one who misses these childhood traditions. My own kids are already asking me if they can pick out their costumes for the parade this year.

MY DAUGHTER HAS HER COSTUME READY PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS AWAY FROM THEM THEY WORK SO HARD ON THE PARADE
Ridiculous. Schools r suppose to be fun too not just books. Stop ruining traditions for the sake of being difficult.

This is just sad. The kids look forward to this all year. Let them dress up and have fun for once!
