The university has officially announced that all courses will move to a remote format for the upcoming semester. I appreciate the commitment shown by everyone who advocated for this change to protect our campus health. We will continue to monitor the implementation of these new protocols as we move forward.

Final supporters
This coming semester, Notre Dame of Maryland University has decided to conduct hybrid courses in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. In order to limit the spread of said virus, however, many students would prefer in-person classes should not be conducted this semester. Rather, we’d like to see online courses. This will not affect housing for those who would prefer it. This petition will be sent to President Yam.

The feedback I have received from students reflects a profound concern for the health and safety of our campus community. I am currently preparing a formal letter to President Yam to ensure that these sentiments are clearly presented to the administration.

If my daughter is not allowed to only take virtual classes I will be withdrawing her.
Please, I am scared for my life as are all of us. I urge NDMU to prioritize the safety of their students. Listen to us! We DO NOT feel safe having in person classes. We should not have to choose between health and our education!
I have my family to worry about. I can not let my kid get sick because of me. Make school online.
As the SGA President, I can confirm that these are growing concerns within the student body. Our priority is to advocate for the students; due to the many uncertainties with returning to campus, we strong urge administration to reconsider their decision to resume in-person courses this fall. Students should choose which modality they prefer; for those who need on campus accommodations, they should receive them on a case by case basis. Thank you!
Why would we close school when there were only 10 active cases in Maryland at the time but open when there’s over 1,000 active cases?

I know labs and clinicals will be difficult and all, but if other schools can figure out how to go all online, so can we. This is for the sake of our students and staff.
