We, The Chicago School’s Business Psychology students, appreciate the steps that The Chicago School has taken to keep us and our professors safe. Students come to Chicago from all over the world and thrive in the collaborative and supportive environment The Chicago School is known for.

The events of the COVID-19 pandemic have disrupted life as we know it. Students and professors have been forced to transition to remote work for the safety of our peers. Unfortunately, online classes are not ideal for everyone. Many of us feel as if we are not getting the education we are paying for due to disorganized classes and poor student/professor engagement.

Fortunately, an abrupt change presents us with an opportunity of changing for the better.

The students that have signed this petition agree with the above statement. The full proposal can be read here. We are hoping to get 40 signatures by Thursday, July 23rd so the proposal can be sent in time to make changes for the Fall 2020 semester. Please sign and circulate!

Updates

July 19, 2020

The administration continues to ignore our pleas while they keep taking our tuition money for a subpar online experience. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the board because they clearly think we will just stay quiet and accept this lack of quality.

As leaders of our education, we look to professors to model the flexibility and agility that organizational theories state are necessary in a constantly shifting environment. Part of that is not only implementing new tools, but responding to feedback that is given not just in surveys, but in student engagement during class time. An increase in tuition when the value proposition of our classes, moved online but not fully adapted for an online environment, is questionable, to say the least.

I too believe that the tuition increase is not in the students best interest. We do not even know if we will be able to go back this upcoming semester especially with there being conversations saying there might be another shut down and if there is it’s unfair for us to pay extra when we are receiving less.

I've been verbally articulating my dissatisfaction to various offices since the Spring. Its good to have an official written complaint in circulation. Stand up! Seek Justice. Be Heard.

Considering these are still classified as "unprecedented times", I strongly believe that the support from this school could be a little bit better, especially with tuition. Considering that tuition being online is equivalent to on-ground courses, I am utterly confused as to where the difference in money is being allocated towards? Students are also struggling to find internships to properly graduate, and because there is still a push to do so despite these being "unprecedented times" I am even more confused as to why the tuition is being increased. I know some students who have dropped to full-to-part time students and have almost decided to withdrawal. Situations like this almost force students to discontinue their education, while also decreasing the retention statistics at this school. I hope our voice matters in this!
