We've spent a lot of money on socials, if the money goes towards prom that means we've spent a lot more money for prom than we intended. We have the right to our money back but all we want is an end of year party

As an ex-student of St Clement Danes, I feel this is completely out of order to go back on words said. Our year had several events when leaving the school in order to create positive memories with each other. I feel it is extremely important for everyone who leaves the school to also have these positive memories.
I feel we should reserve the right to either get our money back, or choose how it's spent. It's unprofessional, and very unfair, to take the control out of our hands after we've consistently funded an end of year party over the last year.
Not everyone is able to attend prom, the end of year party made a lot of sense because it means that the money goes towards two events so more people can benefit from it overall. It only seems fair that we get to do what we choose with the money we have raised, or we get it back.
I feel this is unfair to the students who have put money aside for a party and also those who have spent time organising. It's too late to ban it now, this should have been discussed much sooner.
The fact that I am not able to go to prom makes this even worse. I have spent two years paying extra, and for what... nothing!

Such a shame. No muck up day, last social and now this. Not a nice way for these children to end their time at scd when it should be a fun time full of celebration
