As the students of the school, we should play a part in deciding the name of our team.
And I get it, some students might not take it seriously. But would you rather be called the South Burlington Snowflakes? (An actual petition that's been signed by 128 people)
I THINK NOT.
Let the students of FHTMS and SBHS write some team names- they can be taken to the administration and considered.

The administration is still ignoring us and honestly the silence is getting harder to push through every single day. I am tired of being treated like we do not have a stake in our own identity. We are staying on this until they finally give us a seat at the table.

Just because In the past the name rebels meant the confederacy, no one now ties it to that! If we want to focus on historical significance we should focus on the fact that the US was considered the rebels in the American revolution, so if you want to change it because of the history you are basically saying that you don;t support being a country independent from England.
Keep the Rebel name, or at least have a student body vote of the middle and high school! We are the ones going to the school! Nor is this fair for the community, because as taxe payers they will be paying for all the changes! Even though they many don't agree with it!
Why spend the money on it??? We can spend it on something everyone wants. I never thought of the rebels as racist. I think that most people didn't think of it as racist either. Let's forever be rebels!!!
why change it? this is not fair to the younger generations. Everyone dreamed to be a Rebel and graduate a Rebel. This is such a waste of money when we have other things to spend it on!!
Why can't we stay the rebels? Once a rebel always a rebel, that's our motto. We stand for what Rebel means now; a person or group of people who fight for what they believe in! We stand for equality and justice, WE STAND FOR THE REBELS OF SB!

Give us back our name! I see no ties to the Confederacy, we have re branded it, and those complaining about it who have not been discriminating against it are with utmost respects putting to much emphasis on the past.
