It has come to the attention of the Saranac Village community that the school mascot Redskins has caused some sort of political relations issue. While it is the view of some that the mascot should be changed and renamed, the following citizens are actively working against the change since the Redskin name and tribute has been established since the 1930s. Since then, it has only been viewed as an honor to our American Indian heritage that's deeply rooted within hour community's history. The name Saranac itself is tribute to our establishing ancestors and means "Village of Water." This petition is to support our current ideals as a united community of Saranac Redskins.

Redskins Today, Tomorrow, Forever. Given the other far more important issues within the district, wasting time and money on this non-government mandated issue is ridiculous. Focus on the critical issues at stake!
Please don't change our mascots name. We were known as the Redskins when I graduated in 1967 and way before that. It is meant as an honor and not to demean the American Indians.
it has always been and it should always be. I am part native american and take no ffense to this and I am not the only alumni that is native american.
Teaching positions have been cut along with different educational programs. To consider a spending X amount on a name change shouldn't be considered.
Lived in saranac all my life. Always proud of the redskins. Now have grandkids going to saranac. I feel we should not change history
Until Washington Redskins in Washington D.C. change....why should we? Plus Saranac is an Indian name to begin with. Let's stand up for our tradition & let outsiders go somewhere else. If you try, you can be offended by everthing!!! .
