The district finally confirmed that Kris Meyer will be our new principal. I am drained from the fight but thrilled that we got the result we deserved. Now we just need to settle in and offer her the full support she needs to keep this school moving forward.

We, the PTA and undersigned parents at Ainsworth Elementary, would like Kris Meyer to take on the role of principal at our school. Our school has thrived this year under the new leadership of Tammy O'Neill and Kris Meyer. We are confident that Kris will continue the great work that she and Tammy started, and we will support her in this transition.
In January 2014, the Ainsworth Site Council conducted a school-wide survey in preparation for the Principal Search Meeting with PPS. We learned that the parent community was looking for the following qualities in a new principal:
Good communicator, friendly, and accessible to parents, teachers, and students.
Motivated to maintain (or enhance) Specials (e.g., PE, Art, Music, & Technology).
Interest in pursuing new programs that will raise academic quality.
Ability to utilize/direct the energy of an enthusiastic parent community.
Motivated to maintain (or enhance) technology instruction.
Kris Meyer has proven during the 2014-2015 year that she possesses all of these qualities. She has shown the ability to lead the school with an equitable educational vision for all students and has balanced that with listening to the needs of the community. Kris will continue to be a dynamic leader and will engage students, parents, and teachers in a positive and thoughtful way.

Reaching this level of support has been a long road and I admit my exhaustion is settling in. Still, seeing this validation for the work Kris has put in keeps me moving forward.

Kris is someone who has demonstrated a keen ability to connect with the faculty, parents, and students. She has also demonstrated leadership in many fields and cares for Ainsworth. From my personal experience, Kris takes the time and shows genuine problem solving skills and brings an energy to the school.
Kris did a really nice job with our child when he needed some extra direction. I think she would be an excellent choice as our new principal.
Since I'm both a parent and an Instructional Specialist, I see Kris Meyer's strengths through two lenses. Ms. Meyer has been instrumental in aligning instruction to the new Common Core standards and supporting best practices in the classrooms. Ms. Meyer and Ms. O'Neill identified next steps for Ainsworth, including differentiated math instruction, and I hope Kris Meyer will be able to lead our school community and provide continuity for the important work that's been started.
Kris Meyer has been an exceptional vice principal this past year. She is beloved by students, teachers and parents alike. Along with Principal O'Neill, she has brought welcome competence and passion to Ainsworth's administration. Perhaps most important, appointing her as principal will minimize the regrettable disruption from the loss of Principal O'Neill just one year after her arrival.
VP Kris Meyer, along with principal Tammy ONeill, has been instrumental forging a vision for our school. Leaving Kris Meyer as our principal, will ensure that the changes initiated carry on and the vision materializes. Changing our principal within a year will create disruption. Having Kris Meyer as a principal will mitigate such, and provide needed stability. Respectfully, Jose O.
Kris has the respect of the Ainsworth teachers and community, and the vision built by Tammy and Kris needs continuity of leadership. Kris is a phenomenal candidate and has my wholehearted support.

We are definitely sorry to see Tammy go. Having Kris move into the Principal position would give us confidence that an equally effective and compassionate leader is at the helm. Kris has supported us tremendously as first year parents transitioning to Ainsworth and we would not want to lose her. Her awareness and sensitivity to the diverse needs of all students is truly impressive.
