The very popular Modern Bar & Restaurant, Manchester, situated at the top of Urbis, has been closed for the construction of the National Football Museum, without notice, and there is concern that it may not re-open. We are here to show our support for The Modern Bar & Restaurant and wish to appeal to the authorities deciding its future. This restaurant should be allowed to remain in the Urbis building. Staff at the restaurant have worked hard to make this venue a success, earning it a place as one of Manchester's finest and more unique establishments. It is clear that the staff would like nothing more than to continue serving the city. The Modern offers luxury at an affordable price and, at a time when so many businesses are struggling to survive, we must fight to hold on to those that remain successful and that add to the reputation of Manchester as a city on the up. There is no reason why a museum celebrating the history of British football can not work alongside an establishment promoting British food made from good seasonal ingredients. Please help us by preserving Urbis as a place that can serve people of all tastes and interests in the community!!!
