The Kentucky Department of Education has formally rescinded the closure order for Cordia School. We are currently finalizing the transition plan with local board officials to ensure all students return to their classrooms as scheduled. We will maintain oversight throughout the upcoming semester to confirm full compliance with these terms.

Final supporters
This petition is for the express purpose of collecting signatures of those who wish to see Cordia School in Knott County, Kentucky after it was suddenly closed by the Kentucky Department of Education. Parents, students, and staff were only notified when a local news station broke the story, rather than being informed by the local or state education system. The closing of this school would mean tearing children apart from their friends and away from a place that, to many, has become a second home. All signatures are very appreciated! Thank you for your time!

We have reached one hundred signatures which provides the necessary leverage to request a formal meeting with the local board of education. I am currently drafting a letter to the superintendent to demand a public explanation for the lack of prior communication regarding the shutdown.

To close this school b would be a inconvenience for most the students they would be on a buss for a long period of time to travel to and from school. Many parents would take their children out of Knott county because it would be closer to send them to perry county.
My twins went to Cordia from pre-school all the way until they graduated high-school. We loved it and they’re able to give a lot of one-on-one attention which is great because all children need that type of attention. Also, they love each student and do what they can to help in all situations cv
This school is historic and sent so many on to further their education plus they have many more students to help. Cordia has helped families by giving them food,clothes,housing repair assistance to so many families. I could go on n on. KEEP CORDIA OPEN!!!!!!
I really hope they keep it open I've been in school with way more problems then cordia...I am very protective of my children I wouldn't send my daughter if I didn't think it was safe.
I graduated from Cordia in 1992. It's more than a school it's the heart of the community. Once you're a part of Cordia you are family for life. Anybody that puts politics and power before the success and love of students are in the wrong profession. Once a Lion Always a Lion.
This school is an anchor for our community.
members of my entire family did go to and graduate from Cordia. Now my nephew goes there.Please keep this great school open.

1998 Cordia High Shool graduate. My mother graduated from Cordia High School in 1965. My two children, one a freshman, the other in 6th grade. Neither have attended a different school other than Cordia. Very,very sad is an understatement!,,
