Final supporters
It has been a longstanding Juanita High School tradition for the senior class to be a mix of blue and red on graduation. It works well as the school colors are red white and blue and it differs us from Sammamish and Bothell HS. It seems like a simple thing, truly with no harm, just a nice tradition. But, Juanita administration has decided that they want us to choose a singular color as a class this year. We, the student body, find this ridiculous. The mix of red and blue with it being the choice of the students is in no way a harmful tradition in any shape or form. It also causes issues for people who are planning to use family handed down gowns or who already have their gowns. We ask that the administration allow our schools tradition to continue for our class and many more past us.

We just hit 250 signatures and the administration cannot ignore us anymore. They think they can erase our graduation traditions with a flick of their pens but they clearly underestimated how much this school cares about its identity.

The JHS administration is still refusing to listen to us despite how much this tradition actually means to the students. I have been emailing the principal every single day and getting nothing but silence in return. They need to realize that we are not just going to drop this because they find our school spirit inconvenient.

I graduated in 1980 wearing a red gown after having walked onto the stage with my classmate who was wearing a blue gown. And I turned out just fine. So did he! knock if off creepy Administrators. This is not your school, it belongs to students - then and now!
hi i went to juanita and i thought it was really fun getting to pick our colors i liked seeing what everyone chose. jhs is repped by 3 colors so it makes sense to have an extra option. there’s no point in burdening students with this.
Talking away the choice would be taking away our voice. The different colors allows us to show our individuality, instead of conforming to one color. However, because the different colors are the school colors, we’re still united as a school.
As a parent of an alumni JHS student and current Senior taking away the students rights to choose the JHS gown color is taking away their voice and individuality. It is shameful for the district to even consider this as an option. This as been a tradition that should continue!!
We need to have both colors as option just like in years past. My family’s plan to save some money is to use my brothers from last year which is Blue and if the chosen color is Red we will be forced to pay an extra money towards something not worth paying twice

As long as anyone can choose either red or blue (and it isn't gender based) I'd say let the students choose. While tradition isn't always good, I'd say this tradition is doing no harm. School admin - Focus your energy on issues that matter, this is an unnecessary use (force) of power.
