The Little People’s Place at 1226 Barracks Street in New Orlean’s historic neighborhood of Treme has been family owned and operated since 1952. The social aid and pleasure club has served as a community touchstone, a place where everyone is welcome and everyone is a friend. For the first time in 64 years the ATC has claimed an anonymous complaint was lodged against the Little People’s Place for serving alcohol without a license, and threatened closure. Please sign our petition to obtain a proper license so that our family may continue to operate this 6th Ward landmark and community gathering place. It’s a piece of New Orleans history, a part of what makes this city incomparably unique, and an important link in preserving the culture of Faubourg Treme.

It would be a tragedy to lose The Little People Place it's has a very special place in my heart for the simple reason I'm a Treme baby and I grow up with the family that owns that place.So losing The Little People bar would really be like losing a family member.
Sam and Pat and Oliver's baby shower and a cake with Tori spelling's picture on it and tomato duplenty and Ralph's ostrich gumbo… So many good times with the kids dancing to the jukebox… Please don't let this slip away from us
This is my "families" place. My loves, my life!!! Help keep this place open. Also a musical history club. Kermit Ruffins, Rebirth, Trombone Shorty all started here. Stop letting places with history in Treme go away. They NEED to stay!!!
We must save the places that make up the Cities soul. I'm a transplant, I came to New Orleans from NYC because of places like Little Peoples Place. Don't lose the places and the people that make New Orleans magical.
Owner of several properties Uptown and registered voter in City Council Distric A. Please leave these good people alone and stop attacking the very institutions that are responsible for New Orleans long and beautiful cultural heritage.
My maternal family is from New Orleans; grandma & grandpa moved up to Chicago in the early 1900s to escape the brutal treatment of African American people in the Deep South. When the Great Depression hit in 1929 they had 6 children & grandpa found work as a painter & plasterer, 2 trades he learned as a child in NOLA. My sister, daughter & I love NOLA for its unique culture, outstanding food & some of the U.S.’s best music. I lived at 719 Franklin St & 1229 Chartres from 1980-82 in my wild & fun mid-20s. What a damn shame I only learned of Little People’s Place now, living back in Chicago! I do visit the Queen City of the South often so I’ll fsure visit next time. Till then, HAPPY MARDI GRAS, y’all!
such a very special place ! welcoming and friendly, and the Friday fish fry is insanely good ! an annual destination for several years now - keep it alive !

I grow up in the Treme and when to school the third generation. That was in the 70's, my cousin ended up marrying a granddaughter of the original owner. I also watch world famous entertainers including the start of Kermit Ruffins' career.
