Some of you may know about the Walnut Inn, located on Walnut Street between 10th and Carmen Streets and some of you may not. Originally, it was a grocery store, but for the past 33 years it has been a little local pub, frequented by some neighbors and some of the local factory workers. The previous owner Vic Wierzbicki has sadly passed away and a couple of our neighbors, Kim Lockwood and Jason Beard, would like to continue the Walnut Inn as a local pub - to go have a few beers or glasses of wine, play pool and maybe watch a football game. Tomorrow we are going in front of city council to ask permission to keep this place open. I have created this petition and am asking for your support because zoning recommended approval for the bar but with the condition that the hours of operation be 9am - 9pm. I am going to request that they not limit our hours of operation. This bar has been used in two movies and is a true Springfield dinosaur, a lot like Tommy's. Please help me keep this place going. Thank You, Alannah Daly.

im heading to city council soon to talk about those weird hours they want to force on us. meeting with kim and jason earlier today reminded me why this place is worth fighting for since it really is the heart of the block.

im honestly shocked by how many people care about saving this place. it really shows how much the walnut inn means to everyone around here. lets keep this energy going when we talk to the council.

As a taxpayer and resident of Springfield for 15+ years, I support this petition and the Walnut Inn. Please allow it to operate with the same business hours and not restrict them to 9a to 9p.

We own a house across from the bar and run a business next. Always has been a good neighbor and never an issue with later hours. No reason to restrict them at this point.

I live only a couple of blocks from this little neighborhood bar. It's so quiet and unassuming, I didn't even know it was there for quite awhile. I see no harm in this little bar being open later than 9:00 PM. We need businesses in Springfield. Neighborhood bars are generally not limited to such early hours. Please don't impose this unusual limit on the hours of the Walnut Inn. I support the owner of this property, a long time Springfield resident, who cares about the neighborhood.

Please do not levy restrictions on the hours of operation for this historical, Springfield pub/bar. To do so would only deter others from investing in this wonderful community. Growth is good for all!

Please do not limit the hours of operation on a bar that has been established since the 1960's. This is the oldest bar in a historic district.

I am a Springfield homeowner and I also run the Karpeles Manuscript Museum in the neighborhood. I have no problem with the Walnut Inn as a bar and support it's continuing business in Springfield.

I wish that I could crush my enemies as easy as walnuts.
