Green Hills HOA Board is proposing a $58,700 expenditure for a 2 arm gate (3 Pillars) and camera at the subdivision entrance recording traffic.
Entrance by Code and/or Smart Phone App; and by other devices. Exit automatic.
Snowplows, Garbage, Delivery, Construction vehicles and equipment trailers (eg Roof Trusses on Trailers) may be affected by the pillars. Pillars are just over 14ft apart, any loads between 12-14 ft require an escort per DOT rules. There should be nothing entering our subdivision that is over 14ft wide.
Snow will pile up around the pillars. Snow may collect on Gate Arms affecting operation.
Distributing Gate Codes would be necessary for all non-resident guests and deliveries; this will be difficult if not impossible. HOA Board states: There are MULTIPLE private communities in Ogden Valley and Weber county that have gates and distributes codes. Its not impossible.
Power outages may affect operation or require back-up battery/inverter power. HOA Board states: Price includes a power outage backup.
Funds collected for "Road Impact" cannot be re-purposed by the HOA Board for a Gate without a vote. With many homeowners using delivery companies more such as FedEx, Amazon, WalMart, Home Depot, the truck size cannot be determined, and may be in excess of the 36,000Lb limit; homeowners could be charged HOA fees for deliveries. HOA Board states: These types of trucks are usually rated at 32,000 lbs.
The Sanctuary is proposing additional property development above Maple Canyon. Monthly rental of Sanctuary multi-room Lodges and recreation equipment will cause Gates to operate frequently. HOA Board states: These gates are designed for heavy traffic areas.
Gates will not stop large vehicles from utilizing GH roads nor affect collection of road impact fees from The Sanctuary as they will be given codes.
Homeowners and Lot Owners against the HOA Board installing a Camera and Green Hills Gate please cast 1 vote per household.

I have been in green hills since 1999 and served on the board fora good amount of time. It is a difficult job. Not a question of obeying rules, just looking for better solutions rather than one that will unforeseen outcomes.
Huge impact to my property.. I vote No... to this expensive gate that homeowners did not vote on. I suggested we put it in front of one of the board members homes instead, since they think it’s such a great idea.
This gate will be just another failed attempt to control the Sanctuart This gate will not only split my property it splits my house IN Half The sign has shown it works by the revenue it generated. The rock pillars dont make the date look any less cheesy
The purpose of the gate as presented by the HOA board is not in the best interest of the entire community.
I, as a Board Member, voted NOn this foolish and expensive project.
NO gate! Seems ridiculous in our opinion

The GH Board needs to take a vote of the membership before spending road impact funds on a Gate. Parts of Kelley are in need of repair this year requiring those funds
