Mia Figueroa, a senior at East Brunswick High School, was diagnosed with a brain cyst / tumor early in the school year. Since then she has had tons of doctors visits, had brain surgery, and gets sick often due to a weak immune system. Because of all of these complications, she's missed five months of school. The school is now telling her and her parents that she may not be allowed to graduate due to the work she missed. She still has to see doctors regularly, it isn't easy for her to get the loads of makeup work she has done. She was and still is ill, and it is not fair that her senior year was taken away from her and now she might not even get to graduate. The school administrators remain silent while Mia struggles to keep up with the mounting workload during her recovery. I am exhausted from the constant back and forth but I am not walking away from this fight until she gets her diploma.

I was raped which caused me too often be sick due to stress it sctewed me up and I' m graduating a year late which only added to my stress.... This poor girl already has a low immune system don't let stress make it worse.
Let Mia Graduate with the Class of 2016! She didn't ask for the health condition that she has and she didn't work her butt off in her Academics all these years, for nothing. To destroy all the effort and hard work she's put in so close to the end, because of unfortunate circumstances and a health condition that she has no control over, IS JUST WRONG!
This really bothers me when you do something like this and the poor girl is ill. Instead of telling her she may not graduate, why don't you send a tutor to help her complete the missed work. She didn't ask to get sick show some compassion.
I was in the same boat (not as serious of health problems) told I wasn't going to graduate due to missing so much school from anxiety, knee surgeries and migraines/hospitalizations. But I did it. One thing I learned is keep fighting and don't let them tell you that you can't do it because you can and will. Best of luck!
Complex cancers of the brain are incredibly difficult to deal with, and this young woman has shown incredible bravery and strength in the face of these complications. The school administration would be sinking to a new low to prevent her from graduating based on pure medical necessity. Best of luck! I'm praying for you!

Give this young lady the chance to complete her work in the time she's lost let her walk at graduation and send her diploma later. Have a heart.
