Unfortunately, Alexa did not meet the 73% exam average needed to pass the class and move on to Semester 5, despite having a 77.5% in the class. However, she is planning to appeal this and hope that Alexa's friends, who know her and her work ethic, are willing to support her. Please sign this petition if you believe that Alexa is a hardworker, knows the material, has competent clinical skills, and deserves to be in Semester 5. If you have ever worked with her, whether it be at a job or clinical, or if you have ever studied with her, please sign this petition!

I have known Alexa since the start of the program and have witnessed her growth and passion for nursing. This past semester, we have spent a great deal of time studying at my apartment. For the final in particular, Alexa had already reviewed every subject on the exam breakdown. We discussed with each other and a few other classmates and would quiz each other to see if we had known the information. I felt that Alexa had the knowledge and information down well before the exam. We studied several days in advanced. I do not think an exam average should dictate her knowledge in this theory class. I believe Alexa has what it takes to learn the information and put it in practice in clinical. Please reconsider and allow her to move forward with the rest of her cohort.

I support Alexa and believe that she is a competent nursing student due to the skills she has shown within the Advanced Medical Surgery clinical rotation we had together in our 4th semester. Not only has she showed it within this semester, but in the previous semesters as well. Due to her personal circumstances, she has taken upon more responsibilities during this semester which have greatly affected her grades, but it does not mean that she is an incompetent student. Please reconsider on allowing her to progress to 5th semester.

I have known Alexa since the beginning of this program, and have come to know her as a hardworking and determined individual. Semester 4 was a challenging semester, and I do believe that sometimes my exam scores did not adequately reflect my knowledge in this profession. Alexa should be given the chance to be reconsidered for progressing to semester 5 as I do believe that she has the work ethic and determination to succeed in this program and as a future nurse.

Despite being in different semesters, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Alexa when I entered the nursing program. Alexa’s personality and work ethic is something to be greatly admired. Alexa always gives everything her all despite balancing two jobs, two officer positions, and school. During our study sessions together, Alexa has proven to be very knowledgable and passionate about nursing. She is always ready to answer questions whether it is about content within her semester or previous semesters. Even though she was short of her exam average, I do not believe that this should dictate her competency. I believe that Alexa has the full potential to become a great nurse regardless of her exam scores and I believe that she is ready to progress to semester 5.

Alexa is extremely hardworking, I have seen her give 100% in everything she does. She is involved in extracurriculars, and works full time and is a full time students and she balances everything so well! I have seen her in clinical environment, and I can say this with confidence that she will be a great nurse. The passion she conveys for her patients is great and she truly care for her patients and tries her best to make sure they are well taken care of. Therefore, I don’t think exam scores should define her. I believe she deserves the chance to move on to semester 5 because she is one of the most hardworking person I know.

Alexa is more hardworking than anyone I know. She deserves to move forward because her passion for nursing is strong and grades don’t define that. She has the mindset, the strength, and compassion that is needed in a full-fledged nurse. You can ask anyone and they will tell you the same thing.

Hello School of Nursing staff. I believe that Alexa has shown the competencies to move on to semester 5 with the rest of her semester. I have seen her work ethic and determination towards nursing in the time I was able to closely work with her in both our theory classes and our nursing clubs. In the times I was able to study with Alexa she has been able to someone who could help me with material that I previously did not understand despite my own self-study on the topic. Alexa has also been one to teach me clinical skills that I either did not know how to do or felt that was one of my weaknesses. Alexa has also been involved in helping lower semesters in both giving advice It is for these reasons that I believe that Alexa has met the requirements to advance to Semester 5. She is a student who is passionate in the things she does and I truly do believe that she has met the requirements of Semester 4.

For whom this may concern, I was fortunate enough to study, work, and connect with this amazing individual from the nursing program at SJSU. Especially, during the 4th semester of nursing due to being placed in the same clinical group. This allowed me to see Alexa through two different settings: classroom and clinical. In the classroom, Alexa is an extremely hard worker. She participates in class discussions, does her work, and take notes from the instructors. I was also luckily enough to study with her a couple times in the library and I can definitely confirm that she does everything in her power to prepare for the exams. She reads the book, take excessive notes, and is able to give me a personal lecture of the disease/disorder at hand. Without her help, I would have struggled a lot more during 4th semester. She single-handledly improved my grade results. For each study session we had and her being able to teach me, I can tell she knows the information needed and puts in a lot of time to learn it. Other than that, I was also able to see her work in a clinical setting. At clinicals, she is always the person who ask questions and when being asked to perform a nursing task, she is the first person to raise her hand. Her hunger to learn and perform tasks (such as blood draws, insert IVs, etc.) tells me that she is dedicated to be a nurse, as well as, her willingness to help patients. I know the individuals who read this petition may view this as biased, however I am 100% confident that Alexa deserves to be reevaluated. She is definitely a competent student and extremely knowledgeable on 4th semester material. 4th semester, as we all know, isn't an easy semester. Especially with the addition of personal circumstances which fell upon her, it can feel unbearable. But without a doubt, Alexa knows her information. Unfortunately, the nursing program is solely based on exam results which I believe shouldn't dictate her knowledge and nursing ability alone. I hope you all take
