We believe that students should not have to go to school hungry. However, due to the increasing cost of living crisis, many parents find themselves having to send their children to school without food. On average, per week it costs $33 to pay for just one child's school lunch. This means that per year, a family has to pay $1250 at least to feed their child just one meal. The Ka Ora, Ka Ako healthy lunch programme has been created to alleviate this cost from parents, and has worked for the most part. However, currently, this programme is only provided to the 25% lowest socio economic children around New Zealand. We want to increase this to 50%, to account for the ever increasing cost of living and inflation rates. Please consider signing this petition!!
