Hi my name is King Makai I am 7yrs old and I go to Highlands Elementary School. I am creating this petition to bring awareness to the high lunch prices my fellow students have to pay on a daily basis. Not only is it a burden on parents but it's hard for the kids as well. Some parents can't afford $2.75 a day which is $13.75 a week and $55 a month!! Every day I see at least four to five kids in the cafeteria crying because they can't afford the same lunch that everyone else has. While all the other students who can actually afford theirs are eating Burgers, nachos, tacos, and pizza the kids who can't afford their lunch are forced to eat peanut butter and jelly or ham and cheese sandwiches with an apple. Since I have been in this predicament myself I think that it's unfair that certain students get certain lunches based on what their parents can or can't afford. My goal is to have lunch become free for everyone. At least I feel like we can get lunch prices reduced. With your help to reach 250 signatures, I will then give this petition to my principal Mr. Patton and taking a copy to CHISD School Board of Trustees at the next public meeting.
