Kokuhohu will not get high speed fibre broadband unless we take action. The
FNDC website
(see Better Broadband and Mobile Coverage page)
has the following heading: Improving digital connectivity 100%
connectivity, 100% opportunity, no one left behind ... but keep
reading and you will find a list of communities that will be
connected by 2022 and Kohukohu is not on the list. This has been confirmed to me by discussing the implications of this webpage with the council.
Our
nearest
neighbours – Rawene
and Broadwood
are on the list to be connected to fibre house by house, not just through the exchange, but Kohukohu
is missing from the list entirely.
Broadwood raised a petition to the mayor and achieved over 100
signatures in support of their submission
that they should be included and they were successful.
Our
broadband connection over the normal phone network is intermittent
and slow. We
deserve better.
Uber Broadband provides a good service, but only to people that can
receive their wireless signal and at a cost significantly higher than
the cost of a fibre connection.
The lack of high speed connections will hold back our businesses, our
children – all of us!!
Call
me, Peter Huckle on 09 929 5981 (local) or mobile 020 41797179, or
email [email protected] if
you have any questions.
The more signatures we get, the better chance of our getting high speed fibre so please get everyone in your house to sign.. If you are not happy to sign the petition online there are petition sheets in the village shop and the library so please sign!! Signing does not commit you to installing fibre - it just shows your support for Kohukohu to be on the list for fibre connections.
Why should our area excluded from fibre access, its detrmental to our childrens education & makes it extremly hard to run a business with very limited & unreliable Internet services
