Please could you join me in helping raise awareness about the lack of road safety for our school children crossing at Bunkers Lane, Linslade. (near the Hare pub). A significant amount of school children cross this road during the mornings and afternoons and there does not seem to be a safe point along any part of this road for them to cross. There is a coach regularly parked on the road obstructing views for pedestrians, cars coming from all directions, (including drivers pulling in and out of the Hare pub dropping their children off) as well as ridiculous speeds I have witnessed from some drivers down this road. I am concerned for the safety of the children, including my son, and would like to see the council take some action before, not after, an accident happens. Thankyou - I hope we can work together to get something done about it.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have come forward to back this cause. It is clear that this is a community worry and I am just happy to be a small part of highlighting something that affects all of our families.

Hi everyone Thank you all for your support so far. Just so you are aware, I have given Lee Baldry (Deputy of HIghways) a few weeks now to respond to our concerns and despite several emails I have not heard back. I do not intend to let this go and will persist until I know what our options are. I have emailed our local MP Andrew Selous again today to let him no that I have received no response and will now start actively chasing them. Thanks Sarah
why should that be the only road there is lots of roads in Leighton and linslade it would a lot better if parents didn't park or drop off kids near schools because when they don't the roads are so different hope they sort all roads that need it .
An article will be in the Leighton Buzzard Observer on Tues 23rd October.....please do what you can to continue to increase signatures...the more we have the more we will be listened to :)
Over 110 signatures in just over 48 hours which is brilliant and Linslade Middle included a good article and link to the petition in their newsletter yesterday so hopefully get even more support. I have to send some photographs of the road to Leighton Buzzard Observer and they said if possible to include some other concerned parents in the photo so am going to take some photos tomorrow. If anyone wants to be part of this Ill be at the Hare pub tomorrow at 1.30pm. Ill will also take some pics of the traffic on Mon am when the road is at its busiest. Thanks everyone xx
Good for you , Sarah. it's been a problem for years and there have been some serious accidents.
See below latest correspondence from Local MP and Deputy Head of Highways... Dear Mrs Davies, Since my last letter to you I have now received a reply from Lee Baldry Deputy Head of Highways for Central Bedfordshire Council in response to the points I have raised on your behalf regarding the need for a safe crossing Bunkers Lane, Linslade, Leighton Buzzard I hope that the information contained in Mr Baldry’s reply is of help to you. Please do not hesitate to contact me again should you have any other concerns about this matter which you wish me to take further for you. With very best wishes, Andrew Selous Member of Parliament for SW Bedfordshire & Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice www.andrewselous.org.uk From: Lee Baldry [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 12 September 2014 15:00 To: SELOUS, Andrew Cc: Hall, Steve Subject: RE: MRS SARAH DAVIES 66A CHELSEA GREEN LINSLADE LEIGHTON BUZZARD LU7 2PU TEL 07455964208 Dear Mr. Selous I received a similar enquiry around January 2014, and requested a second evaluation of the site; with a view to assessing the suitability for a pedestrian crossing. I will revisit the matter with Steve Hall’s observations from site, but they did not support introduction of a formal crossing. However, this does not preclude the community from engaging in the Local Transport Plan, whereby sites of local concern (which the Council may not always be able to consider a priority) can be put forward for match funding, for example with the Town Council. I will therefore reassure myself of the advice I provided from earlier this year, and make a recommendation of any next steps the community may wish to consider.
