Every parent is aware of the very busy Bedford Road in which our chidrens school is placed. The lack of cover when the Wilbury Junior School's lollipop lady is off sick etc is unacceptable yet it is neither the school's, or the councils legal responsibility to have a lollipop lady/man there. It is due to parental responsibility. However what happens if a parent is ill or is unable to take their child safely to school, yet has not other means other than letting them walk to school alone? Bedford Road is one of the most busiest roads in Letchworth Garden City and OUR childrens school is on it with NO SAFE crossing when the lollipop lady is not there. This petition is being raised to get North Herts District Council to place a Zebra Crossing outside the school. To enable our children to cross safely, althugh of course the lollipop lady may well me out of a job, but then what happens if nothing is placed there, the lady cannot make it to help OUR children cross, and one gets knocked down as there is nothing to help them...... PLEASE HELP GET A SAFE ZEBRA CROSSING FOR OUR CHILDREN
