This is a Petition for a safe crossing point in Buntings Path which is the road adjacent to Burwell School, The Burwell Community Centre and the Community Library.
I'm an Ofsted Registered Childminder and also a parent myself. Living on this
street now for nearly 6 yrs I've noticed every day the potential danger on this
Road. Although, I do sympathise that there are lots of roads that might need
improvement in Burwell and speeding is a issue everywhere, this is a road right
next to the Primary School and Community Sport Centre, and even though it is
not leading to the main entrance to the School, over half of the pupils and
families use this entrance on a daily basis to come and go plus it's the main
entrance to the Sport Centre where there are multiple daily activities 7 days a
week. It is also one of the entrances to the Community Library which is used by
many of our residents both young and old. The point of this is, this road
should really have visible signs for the School at each end, a zebra crossing
and restrictions of speeds limits in line with most areas around schools in the
country which is 20mph. I witness every single day, numerous times, people
speeding over the limit, parking close to the corners and restricting
pedestrians views and children crossing between cars as the come and go from
the amenities. I'd like to find out the ways of how this can be improved. I
would appreciate your advice, possible support and of course your signature!
Locally set speed limits
20 mph zone in the built up area around the School
Barriers along the footpath with clearly marked crossing points with no parking
zones.
Safety Children Crossing Signs either side of the School and Community Centre entrance in Buntings Path which reflects the signs in the Causeway and along Ness Road that already exists.

I have been reviewing the detailed feedback regarding traffic patterns near the school and the library. These observations are currently being compiled into a formal proposal for the local council to review. Thank you for providing such clear accounts of the daily hazards encountered on Buntings Path.

The momentum behind this request for a safer crossing has grown significantly. It is heartening to see such a clear consensus among our neighbors regarding the necessity of these improvements.

I totally agree we battle to cross this road daily on our route to school it’s always very busy cars parked on both sides makes crossing very unsafe at times
As a registered childminder caring for children in the village and offering before/after school drop off/pick ups to Burwell Village College I fully support this petition as I too have witnessed many ‘close calls’ involving children and motorists.
I used to live on this road. Cars drive far too fast i feared for my childrens lives going outside the house and walking them to school. My cat also got killed on the road last year
We use this road at least 4 times a day and a crossing would make it a lot safer for my children as well as many other families
Far too much speeding down Buntings Path. It is very dangerous for pedestrians, especially school children at the entrance to the school and sports centre. Parking along that stretch if road should also be restricted for safety reasons. A zebra crossing would be a good idea, parking and speed restrictions.
Something must be done to slow down traffic. Too dangerous now.
Completely agree with the points raised by Mirka. As a resident and father - I am very concerned by the reckless driving witnessed along Buntings Path. I hope we reach an appropriate outcome - before somebody is seriously hurt.

It seems crazy they've built crossings on the Causeway and on Ness Road but haven't one at the busiest crossing point that not only serves the school but also the Sports Hall, Library and the Army Cadets too, totally support this!
