Hello, my name is Hafsah Peracha, and I am a student at Middletown High School and the respective Muslim Student Association President. We are petitioning to recognize Eid as a religious holiday in the Appoquinimink School District. Eid is an important celebration for many students, families, and staff in our community, and we believe it should be officially acknowledged as a school holiday for students to congregate. As of this current moment; the 2025-2026 ASD SCHOOL CALENDAR HAS BEEN FINALIZED AND THE COMITTEE WILL NOT Reconvene. FORTUNATELY, they will LARGELY considerate for eid to be added to the Calendar. However the work here is NOT done. For the ASD parents and students - PLEASE fill out the feedback survey that will be sent out regarding the school calendar. And for the January - March months, please send out as many requests to the ASD committee to include Eid, together I am sure we can accomplish this. Thank you.

The committee has indicated a willingness to discuss the inclusion of this holiday in future academic calendars. I am currently preparing formal correspondence to ensure our community perspectives remain a priority during their upcoming deliberations.

Please make Eid Al Fitr a holiday. This is a day to Muslims like Christmas to Christians.
Eid Alfitr is public Muslim holiday that comes right after Ramadan which is 30 days of fasting. We kindly urge all our state representatives to support this petition to make Eid Alfitr a school holiday to support the Muslim community. Thank you for your understanding!!
Please help our children celebrate their religious holiday with family just like your kids too. Thanks
Please allowing Muslims to celebrate freely without missing school or work obligations.
I am a new Middletown DE resident and its shocking there is not a day off for Eid. I came from Pennsylvania and there is a day off for Eid in that state I would ask the state of Delaware to recognize the same.
It should be implemented as a holiday

Eid ul fitar and eid ul adha are two big days in which whole family and friends get together and cherish the celebration after having 30 days of consecutive fasting. Muslim wait for these two days whole month.
