The stories shared in the comments prove how necessary this recognition is for families trying to balance work and their faith. Reach out to your congressional representative today to demand they sponsor legislation for this change. Post this link on your Facebook page so we can reach people outside our immediate circle.

I celebrate eid and sometimes I on school days so I can't enjoy it with my kids now hopefully I can.
i hope this petition works because its not fair that we don't get our holiday as a national holiday but Christmas is i just want to know were is the equality the Christians aren't better than us its not fair that there holiday is a national holiday .
America is a country built on values and respect to all religions of the world.America is a great nation that supports freedom of speech and such is its constitution .We should all be united under one God and One Nation.American Muslims deserve recognition just like the Christians and the Jews .We are all Americans and we value Our Country. We should all live in Harmony and Peace and Respect.Just like our Christian and Jewish Brothers and Sisters celebrate Christmas and Hannukah ,we as Muslims deserve that same privilege .We deserve to have Eid Uladha as a recognized National Holiday.God Bless America, our beloved Country.
I hope you all know this is completely redundant. In the United States Bill of Rights, your freedom of religion is absolutely, 100%, covered as a United States citizen. You can practice Eid, or any other religious holiday you may practice, whenever you like. If you call in to school for two weeks, or work, because of a holiday you'd like to celebrate, by all means the government will protect you. There's no need to go to this extent. It's redundant. I for one would NOT like to recognize this as a national holiday because I am a Mexican-American catholic and do NOT worship Ala. however, I respect your religion and the enthusiasm put behind this petition.
in light of the fact that schools and industry is closed for Christmas, Easter, and Jewish Holidays; with the growing number of muslims and the fact that it was muslims that came off the slave ships it is only righteous that the Eid Al-Adha is made into a National Holiday
Long overdue
I believe it should be a official holiday.

I think this is an amazing thing it allows our country to show other countries the importance of honoring and respecting one another's way of life without showing discrepancies to each other regardless to race, gender or religion
