Summary And Background.
Since the last Mashishing protest in 2009, the community has been trying to help the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality to pay off its debt to Eskom. But since then nothing has been changed and instead of the debt being decreased it ketp on increasing. The community does pay for their service delivery and yet they are the ones who keep on suffering when Eskom wants its unpaid monies from the Thaba Chweu Municipality. The load-shedding introduced to the community not only affects the daily lives of the community but it also causes damages and faults to electrical appliances, which cause unnecessary problems to the community.

The previous memorandum submitted has not been Attended or got any response. It has given the impression that the grievances of the situation is been taken for granted.

Action Petitioned For.
We the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge the National Energy Regulator Of South Africa (NERSA) to cede the distribution of electricity in Lydenburg/Mashishing area by the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality. We as the community also want NERSA to give Eskom the license to distribute electricity in Lydenburg/Mashishing area.
