Closing off N7 foot access from Richwood
I live in the Richwood, Milnerton suburb for the last 2 and a half years. In this short time. Our house has been broken into 3 times and my car once. On Sunday, 24 January 2016 my 11 year old son was jumped by 3 men in our driveway as he was on his way out and they got away with his new bicycle he got for his birthday in December the month before. My husband heard the ruckus and jumped in the car after the thieves. He managed to catch-up with the one on the bike and knocked him off the bike, but in the process our car / bike was damaged.
The main reason for all this petty crime is the foot access from Du Noon, across the N7 into our neighbourhood. Droves of Du Noon residents walk through our suburb looking for work, but in between we have the criminals who hides between the job seekers and terrorize our neighbourhood.
I am therefore asking the Richwood / Burgundy Estate residents to sign this petition for erection of a fence/wall to cut the foot traffic off from the N7 through our neighbourhood. This will eliminate a large portion of the opportunity crimes taking place, and make our children a little bit safer in their parks and on their bikes. I would really want my son to have a childhood and do the simple things that kids are entitled to.

The numbers are inching up and I honestly cannot believe how many people feel the same way about these safety gaps because it keeps me up at night just thinking about my son in the driveway. If you know anyone else in the area who has dealt with these thefts please get them to look at this page right now since we need a solid pile of names to actually get the city to pay attention to that access point.

I sign this petition for two reasons; 1. To protect the residents of Richwood from unwanted crime. 2. To protect the residents of Dunoon from being knocked over and killed by traffic on the N7 as they take chances running across the road and are not visible at late afternoon / at night.
Hi. Im with you on this eben though we lostnthe battle a few years ago because of the "freedom of movement act" . I was even involved in acquiring quotes to erect a wall...ward councillor Ipser wasn't very helpful at the time neither was Mr Dan Plato who emphasised the freedom movement act. But let's try again and see.
I have just put had to put our house on the market and so sad as I have a lovely home and we will be retiring in a few months time but unable to live like this, We even have to let the agents know what times they must bring people round as it's like a train station with them walking through and attacking us. So sad.
I have nothing against the Du Noon people looking for work and making An effort. But I do have a problem with those who hide among them scoping our areas and causing havoc. I feel its in the best for our areas to restricted that walking pathway .
Sick of the crime here and also witnessed an old man chasing two of them across N7 they ran into the bushes. My daughter and her baby went for a walk not far from home and were attacked for a cellphone. luckily workers in a garden saw them and came to assist, they caught him. Arrested juvenile.

I have being living in Richwood for the last 13 years and in the last year the foot traffic through has raised easy by 500%. With that the criminal activities. Nobody feel save anymore walking in the streets of Richwood.
