I am a resident of Park Central and kindly ask for your support in shutting down the underpass at the end of Parkside Crescent and Regent Street that connects Park Central to Ambarvale in an attempt to reduce the amount of vandalism and criminal activity by individuals using the path and the darkness it provides at night.
Living on Parkside Crescent, our apartment complex has experienced three robberies, rocks thrown at our glass windows on around 15 separate occasions, eggs thrown at our cars and building, a cab driver robbed and bashed right out front of our house and just recently, another cab driver robbed which resulted in a 14 year old girl being left paralysed.
The criminals using this path come into Park Central because they know they have a quick run in darkness and the certainty that no one is going to follow them. I believe this is also the reason why we’ve seen their activities becoming more brazen, which makes me and other residents feel very unsafe.
I understand that a lot of decent people also use that path, but with the escalation of crime and the severity of the events happening, most of you would agree, our safety and the protection of our little suburb is more important than convenience.
I am looking to collect signatures to take to the Council to demonstrate local support for shutting down this access point.
If you do support this, may I ask that you go online and sign the petition. Once I have the support I can start lobbying this with Council.

The local Council has finally noticed the pressure we are building and I refuse to let them ignore the violent reality of this underpass any longer. This momentum proves that our neighborhood is done putting up with the criminals who use this path to terrorize us. We are moving this fight straight to their front steps next.

As a resident of Park Central since July 2010, I am extremely concerned about ever increasing vandalism and criminal activities in our area. I fully support shutting down the uderpass at the end of Parkside crescent and Regent Street.
As my sister lives in Park Central, I am very concerned for her safety and support blocking the access point in question.
My elderly mother lives in Park Central and I support any moves which will keep her safe.
I have witnessed four teenagers escaping through the bush towards the underpass a night the Fire Brigade were putting out a blaze in the park. I've seen teenagers come from the underpass and go up a track where they 'use'. My car has been broken into twice. I thought I was buying into a safe complex but not so!
Fully support the petition, I have witnessed people fleeing the park through that exit after setting fires and dumping shopping trolleys in the ponds.
We had robberies at Parc Guell Drive as well
Been an ongoing problem for at least 5 years. Need more Police patrols at night.

I have previously had my windscreen smashed and in the last 2 wks my daughter has had her work vehicle robbed of equipment and her Kombi broken into, losing her media player and speakers......enough!!
