We, as parents of students and concerned residents of Northern Lebanon School District, oppose the consolidated Kindergarten building (as proposed). There is no support for the building (also referred to as an "early childhood center") from the community. We are concerned about a myriad of issues including length of travel time, student safety and a loss of benefits afforded to kindergarteners in a multi-grade, community-based elementary school, to name a few.
We respectfully request that the Board recognize and support the position of the community, and that the proposal for the Kindergarten building be voted down and the community-based model of elementary schools be maintained.

How is it beneficial to have multiple buses picking up at the same addresses when you have a child going into kindergarten and one in 1st through 5th? This does nothing to help save the school district money and will increase by a bus or two.
I do not think in todays worl it is a good ides to have all 5 years olds in one building. This is y alot of daycare do not advertise out front or there address publicly
I am opposed to closing a school to all grade levels just so kindergarten has a spot for itself. We as a district need to address the uneven populations but not at the expense of our kindergarteners. Limiting a building to only one grade will not help evenly disperse an entire district problem.
they need the older student, to be tutor and mentors. Its a win win .Little kids learn and big kids have responsiblites to teach and mentor the little kids. I,ve been at both ends and its great to "teach" and the friendship last
Moving the 6th grade to the middle school is enough of a change for one year. Plus, there are drawbacks to pitting all kindergarten in one school and dividing up the 1-5 grade displaced students among the other three elementary schools. It just makes no sense for a district that is 144 square miles.
Having a designated kindergarten building would simply be handing any domestic terrorist, thrill killer, sexual predator or estranged relative a soft target for the taking. Children at that age are completely unaware of danger and how to protect oneself should an incident occur. I highly doubt that there would be any improved security measures placed upon the building and within the classrooms. A multi graded elementary school offers exposure to older students whom can look out for signs of danger; voice those opinions and tell younger students how to avoid dangers. If this kindergarten building is an issue solely being explored to raise test scores then perhaps cutting back on the technology classes and having more class time to study instead of playing on a computer would help. It's already been proven that they can figure those out fast enough on their own, focus on the teaching and not the iPads.
I do not feel that turning the school with the best test scores into an Early Learning center is a good thing! I also do not feel that having the Kindergarten seprate from the older children and giving them longer bus rides is a very good and fair idea!

Our family has a daughter who will be starting K in the fall, so we will be directly effected by this HUGE change. There was no attempt to communicate with parents of prospective students, which was clearly an attempt to push this through with as little opposition as possible. VERY CONCERNED!!
