Having a designated kindergarten building would simply be handing any domestic terrorist, thrill killer, sexual predator or estranged relative a soft target for the taking. Children at that age are completely unaware of danger and how to protect oneself should an incident occur. I highly doubt that there would be any improved security measures placed upon the building and within the classrooms. A multi graded elementary school offers exposure to older students whom can look out for signs of danger; voice those opinions and tell younger students how to avoid dangers. If this kindergarten building is an issue solely being explored to raise test scores then perhaps cutting back on the technology classes and having more class time to study instead of playing on a computer would help. It's already been proven that they can figure those out fast enough on their own, focus on the teaching and not the iPads.

I do not feel that turning the school with the best test scores into an Early Learning center is a good thing! I also do not feel that having the Kindergarten seprate from the older children and giving them longer bus rides is a very good and fair idea!

I feel that disrupting the families in the district will further disrupt the children of the district and there by potentially harm the academic outcome. So many parents are already running from here to there with the sports that they are involved in. I myself find it a challenge to give enough attention to the homework and necessary tasks needed to help my children become good students without even being involved in the sports program, yet alone having to potentially deal with children in different schools.

Our family has a daughter who will be starting K in the fall, so we will be directly effected by this HUGE change. There was no attempt to communicate with parents of prospective students, which was clearly an attempt to push this through with as little opposition as possible. VERY CONCERNED!!

I do not feel that the benefits of having all teachers and same level students in one school building outweigh the risks, concerns and lack of social interaction from being segregated from older siblings, friends or neighbors.

Please forward this to all NLSD families. We need to start paying attention, if not already doing so. We need to demand a plan and foresight from our board on any decisions they plan to make. Communication is KEY. I am a mother of two, K-AM and 1st grade at Lickdale Elementery! I am alonso the president of our schools' AFP!

How is it beneficial to have multiple buses picking up at the same addresses when you have a child going into kindergarten and one in 1st through 5th? This does nothing to help save the school district money and will increase by a bus or two.

The amount of time children spend on buses for NLSD is high as it is. And yes, spending time with people of different ages is vitally important, especially at such a young age.

My daughter will start kindergarten in two years. My oldest already has a 40 min bus ride to Fredericksburg. I feel the length of the bus ride for the kindergarten to move schools is not safe. I also agree with the other comments.

My youngest starts kindergarten next year, i do not like the idea of it just being her and all 5 year olds in one building. Also that means my soon to be 5th grader would have to go to a different school

I am opposed to closing a school to all grade levels just so kindergarten has a spot for itself. We as a district need to address the uneven populations but not at the expense of our kindergarteners. Limiting a building to only one grade will not help evenly disperse an entire district problem.

I do not see where K clustering helps our district. I do not want my kids at two different schools. And we have not been given any real reason why this is a good idea. I am completely against K clustering.

they need the older student, to be tutor and mentors. Its a win win .Little kids learn and big kids have responsiblites to teach and mentor the little kids. I,ve been at both ends and its great to "teach" and the friendship last

I am concerned about the lack of a detailed plan. How will this impact our already large class sizes for grades 1-5? How much will this cost? I feel there is a lack of a big picture vision for the entire school district with this proposal.
