Our school dress code is too strict and very gender biased. If a boy ever wore a tank top or even leggings the chance of them getting dress coded compared to a girl is extremely low. Those signing below believe when student wear leggings at Plaza Middle they are intended as appropriate pants; not as something that should be extremely skin tight. As for tank tops, the current dress code makes it seem as if we all wear inappropriate sleeveless tops considered to be as revealing as a crop top or camisole. How are shoulders distracting to other students in a learning environment? This petition would not eliminate the dress code rules but loosen them. You could change the no tank top rule to a three finger width rule and put the old rule back in place where when wearing leggings, something has to cover your backside.
