We would like to propose an amendment to the dress code. This would allow children to wear leggings and distressed jeans with patched holes and shreds. Children are more worried about who is going to dress code them than they are about the education they are receiving everyday. We do not allow holes/shreds in jeans but we allow mid thigh shorts. The standard should be the same regarding the amount of skin shown. Leggings are not anymore revealing than a tight pair of jeans. We allow a child to wear tight jeans with a shirt that comes to their waistline, the same should be allowed for leggings. The high school allows jeans with holes, shorts, and leggings regardless of the shirt length. We need to be uniformed across the district. The agenda the students each carry does not match the district dress code policy. We as a community are looking to build leaders and confident children who will someday be in the positions we are today. Building them up and encouraging them is far better than making them self conscious and of no self worth. Pictures will be attached as they are uploaded.

I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY MORNINGS GATHERING THE CONTRADICTIONS BETWEEN OUR SCHOOL HANDBOOK AND THE DISTRICT POLICY!! IT IS CLEAR THAT WE DESERVE CONSISTENCY SO THAT OUR KIDS CAN FOCUS ON THEIR EDUCATION INSTEAD OF THEIR OUTFITS!! STAY TUNED BECAUSE I AM PREPARING TO PRESENT THESE FINDINGS DIRECTLY TO THE BOARD MEMBERS VERY SOON!!!

The dress code should be the same throughout the district. If it's okay for high school kids to wear these things, who are more developed & have more to show, then there should be no issue for middle schoolers. Try finding a pair of pants that aren't leggings, jeggings, or with worn spots/holes in them. And try finding shirts that are long enough to go past the behind area. And most definitely, every teacher needs to be on the same page as far as the rules go. Too many inconsistencies on what certain teachers allow & discipline for.
I agree! If they were so worried about this they should’ve sent out papers telling everyone what to buy BEFORE school started. This is all our kids can talk about at home. Not what they learned, did, or anything like that.. EVERYDAY it’s about who got dress coded for what. It’s just a joke.
I agree. Years ago when the dress code was placed the fashion was considerably different. It makes it very hard to shop for approved clothing. Clothes are an organic thing, constantly changing and evolving. And the dress code should change with it. I understand why it's in place, but I dont understand why it's not enforced for all schools with the same standards.
I’m completely on board with this , school shopping with my kids was a complete nightmare this year.. something we all usually have fun doing turned into a stressful fight because they were so worried about potentially getting in trouble at school that we couldn’t enjoy picking out new clothes , I’m always on my children about having appropriate clothes on and 90% of the things the picked up while shopping got put back not because I disapproved but because the school might .. let them be kids, let them have fun with their clothes.
Had a war all the time on this. Had to leave my job to bring my daughter different pants on more than one occasion. Try to find a pair of Jeans without some holes. Near to impossible.
Should be able to wear what they want as long as it is no illegal

Going to middle school was probably the most stressful time in my life not because of school but because of the dress code. Not to mention many parents can’t pay for new jeans because their kids ripped a hole in them just for the kids to be embarrassed when the teacher PUTS DUCKTAPE ON THEIR JEANS! It’s tacky first of all and skin is skin you are teaching kids that they don’t have the freedom to wear what they want. It’s understandable if kids were wearing shorts that are way too short or a shirt that shows cleavage but to embarrass a kid because he or she has a hole in their jeans or if a girl is wearing legging and the shirt isn’t covering their bottom half is absolutely ridiculous. I would love to see the dress code change and I’m happy someone is doing something about it.
