The dress code in the schools of the SRVUSD district needs to drastically be reevaluated in order to update the outdated rules, for example chain jewelry, head coverings, and tank tops, and in order to not objectify young women in our community. School's administration should respect the women in their school, and not make them feel that they are a "distraction" to boys by over sexualizing parts of the body that are historically not sexual. With this petition, we hope to rid the objectifying connotation of the school's dress code, and update some extremely out of date rules. Please sign to help us in our hopes of creating a comfortable and respectful learning environment for girls everywhere.

Exactly! School's need to reevaluate their dress codes and adapt to the current needs of hot weather and popular clothing.
Honestly it's completely unfair in the way that they dress code! They do the whole shorts dress code by mid finger but girls who have short arms can wear basically underwear !!!
The dress code is a sexist racist part of life and it should be revoked. If the guys can't control themselves that's not the girls fault. Teach the boys how to control themselves
This is so great. The dress code is targeted to girls and girls only. We should be able to wear what we want without having to be put into dirty gym clothes. I know people who have gotten dress cut at school for their bra strap showing. Wow!! I didn't know teenage girls wore bras
I am a girl in this school district and I honestly think it is so stupid that we can't wear a tank top or shorts to school. This is how we express ourselves. We aren't allowed to wear most clothing from places like Brandy Melville, Forever 21, Tillys, Urban Outfitters, Free People, etc.
I'm gonna wear short shorts anyways.

yeah I'm not going to buy shorts longer and uglier for the school.. hollister doesn't even sell shorts that long.. and it's not our responsibility for guys to not pay attention to our asscheeks
