Final supporters
Virtual school is not working for our Hitchcock students. Please sign this petition to let Hitchcock ISD and school board know you support bringing our students back to campuses. They are being marked absent when clearly they are logged in, the work is not being seen, and overall kids are losing their morale. Let's put these kids back in the classroom.

This has been horrible for kids, parents and teachers. There is absolutely no communication to the parents, other than constant emails telling my my child has been marked absent or has a 0 for something he completed and turned in!
My family is constantly working our tails off to get this virtual school stuff done. From 830am until at least 6pm we are struggling and in tears every day. We are constantly getting emails saying they are failing, getting unexcused absences and not doing the work correctly when my entire day revolves around making sure they do it all. I am behind on my own college classes. I have very little time to do our normal household duties. Virtual learning is not working! My youngest was suppised to be in GT classes this year and he is also struggling. He has always made honor roll until now. They are setting our kids up to fail. They need to be in school. Please listen to these parents, we are not certified teachers and we are beyond stressed doing our absolute best to see our kids succeed.
My child is logging in and doing the work and getting failing grades....this is a student with A and B grades!!
I agree. As this is very new to all Hitchcock High School staff as well as the students, we students should not be getting more work than we originally would when attending school in person. I have continuously heard about my fellow classmates losing motivation to do school work, having stressful breakdowns due to the amount, and actually wanting to drop out when they never would have dreamed of it at school. Students who have never failed a class are now failing most classes. I truly believe that attending school will fix all of the problems us teachers and students are having.
The parents at least deserve to be able to make the choice for their own children. Maybe have half online and half in school? At least that way parents can decide for their own children what they see as best fit.
Everything I've read shows that students do get headaches from learning using computers. Each individual student has a different way of learning, but most are brought up having the ability to have a one on one interaction with a teacher.
The kids need us. I need them.

My son needs to be back in school. The amount of time that they have been out has been detrimental to their learning! All these assignments and not giving these kids a grade for their work does not set well with me! My son is not learning the way he needs to. Turning in the work and the teacher saying they don’t have it. Not being able to connect to the zoom meeting. Then being marked absent when he is sitting right in front of my husband doing work all day. I’m over this! Open back the school! Allow these kids to be normal!
