My high school son exhibited high anxiety and hopelessness after the first semester of school. Especially dealing with an online program that would not submit assignments correctly causing serious detriment to his grades and GPA.

After being on zoom for more than 3 hours a day my daughter exhibits signs of anxiety and depression. Education that relies on screens and not personal interaction needs to go!

Thanks to all the teachers and staff working hard in this difficult time. It would be great for our kids to get at least one quarter together in-person. Because other local counties are making in-person school happen, I don't see why we can't as well. The hybrid situation is difficult for lots of families, but of course it's our kids who really miss out in terms of socialization and learning.

In person learning is much needed for my children.

In the best interest of my children, I pulled 4 out of 5 of my children from University School because of the terrible effects remote School was having on them. Your school has already lost thought-diversity by allowing children who are not compatible with remote schooling to struggle without remedy to the point of leaving. While I am willing to do what it takes for my children to succeed outside University School, all parents do not have the same flexibility. My student who remains at University School has done well with the remote option. One of the children withdrawn was fine on an individual level, but it was an unreasonable burden for the family. The other 3 were harmed in various ways, academically, physical health, emotionally, and/or socially by the structure, limitations, isolation, and lack of flexibility regarding connection issues, directly related to remote Schooling.

I completely agree that our students should be back in class full time. Obviously, Covid is not going to go away any time soon, and we are only hurting our children by keeping them on this hybrid schedule. In my situation, I have a high school student and a Kindergartener. My high school student is looking at colleges and scholarships for baseball but he needs to be back in the classroom to help round him out these last few years to fully prepare him for the real world. Only being in class 2 days a week, he is not getting the education experience he needs for his future. As for my Kindergartener, I believe kindergarten through 3rd grade is the main fundamental building block for our children. I don't believe my daughter has learned the amount as she should have this first year of her schooling. I give many thanks to her teacher for all that she does to help our children in this hybrid schedule, for I know it is not easy for her at all . My daughter has came a long way since August but I feel as if she would have learned much more in the classroom full time. My husband and I both work full time jobs. Its normally after 6 before I am home of an evening the to help both kids with homework, dinner and normal nightly endings, its late when everyone gets to bed, so no one is rested on the virtual learning nights. It was much easier when Washington County had their virtual learning program open, then duen to Washington County schools going back to school full time, they closed the virtual learning program, even though University School is Washington County School system and University School students were enrolled in that program. That was very wrong that they would not give us an alternate option with University being a Washington County school. Please please send out children back to school so they do not get any further behind on their educational and life skills.

I’m beyond thankful the US administration has worked to keep our children safe. That’s clearly the #1 priority. With that in mind, I believe the success of the surrounding schools and school systems in safely and effectively bringing students back to full time, in-person learning cannot be ignored. As we approach a full year of remote/hybrid learning, I have concerns about what my daughters (2nd grade and Kindergarten) are actually taking away from the process. The lack of consistency for these kids is making a tough situation even tougher. The teachers at US do such a good job of engaging the students and building important relationships, both with and between their students, are very limited in what they can do remotely. Please consider a plan, as soon as possible, to bring students back safely for full time in-person learning. Thank you.
