Randolph Middle has finally considered bringing our established program to the school. Administrators need assurance that parents would like our program at Randolph (following their children from Barringer Academic Center).
Our program would operate as it does in elementary school offering:
- Weekly Master Instruction led by FM Peter Giannatos
- 18:1 Student Teacher Ratio
- Support at Local, State and National Events (Coaching + Team Rooms)
- FREE Chesskid Gold Memberships to All Students
- Many Special Opportunities Through the Charlotte Chess Center (guest Grandmasters, training camps, etc.)

Reaching this level of support is exhausting but it proves that our community is not ready to let these kids lose their progress. The path forward remains difficult and I am feeling the weight of the work ahead, but seeing this momentum keeps me moving.

This is a no-brainer. Peter and his team of chess coaches and his chess center have made Charlotte and the schools they coach well-known in the chess community. As a chess grandmaster who has taught chess for Peter, I can attest to his commitment to strengthening chess and chess school programs in Charlotte.
Sanjit has been a student of Charlotte Chess Center for the past 3 years (@ Barringer Academic Center). The training has helped him immensely not only in the game but also in other areas like focus, strategic thinking, patience etc., He did pretty good in the super nationals 2017 and stood fourth in K6 U1000 category. There is a group of kids that have been groomed by CCC who have done excellent at national and local tournaments. We as parents would love to have CCC presence at RMS.
Charlotte chess center is the best for chess enthusiasts. Peter is extremely dedicated and brings out the best in the children. Having CCC at Randolph would provide a big platform for kids who have their heart set on chess since elementary to continue it further. This will be vital step to prevent the loss of chess talent, as well as provide exposure to others around. Coming from Barringer Academic center I would hope that our kids would continue to excel in chess provided they continue to have the same exposure that they had in elementary school.
I strongly support starting the Charlotte Chess Center program at Randolph. My daughter has been a member of the program for the last 4 years at Barringer and have immensely benefited from this program. It will be excellent if we could have the option of being able to continue association with this program as part of middle school.
My kids love it and will participate in middle school if it is available
We aren't coming from Barringer, but we know and respect Peter a lot. We would love to see him at Randolph, and know that he can take the club to the next level.

We love Charlotte Chess Center. Our son asked to try the chess club when he began school at Barringer Academic Center and has been attending the weekly sessions plus summer camps ever since Kindergarten. In addition to the game instruction, it's been a positive social experience and something to look forward to each week. We hope that, when he attends Randolph Middle, the program will be there for him to continue learning from these chess masters.
