We are writing this email to let you know that at this time, CMS does not currently have enough art teachers to provide art instruction for 6th graders, only 7th and 8th. Knowing how much kids enjoy art and need to have art as part of their middle school curriculum, it is important to find a way to integrate art back into 6th grade. Our children need to continue with the art foundation that they have developed over the last six years of their elementary school education.
In order to implement this, we were informed that we should let the SAU16 Joint Cooperative School Board know of our interest. We need your support!
If you would like to see an art teacher hired so that CMS can bring back art for 6th graders, please sign this petition. Thank you for your consideration!

Seeing so many families reach out about how much their children miss the creative outlet of art class validates exactly why we started this. We are currently preparing to bring these signatures directly to the school board to show them the depth of our community concern.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that the community values creative expression for our middle schoolers as much as we do. It feels like we are finally building the pressure needed to bring art classes back to the sixth grade.

CREATIVITY IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS MATH AND SCIENCE. BRING ART BACK TO CMS IMMEDIATELY.
really hope this happens. 6th graders need art just as much as the older kids do. my daughter is so bummed about this.
Exeter resident here. Its crazy that they cut this program. Middle school is hard enough without losing the creative outlet.
My son loved art in elementary school and it is a shame he doesn't have it this year. He really misses it.
Art is a core subject for development. Schools need to stop cutting the things that actually make kids want to show up.

This is ridiculous. Find the funds for a teacher. We pay enough in taxes to cover basic art classes for our kids.
