Hello Parents of Blackland Prairie Elementary Students! Last year when searching for afterschool activities, I noticed all the technology and language classes were offered all around Round Rock NW- Spanish, Chinese, robotics, game creations, stop motion animation, space camp adventures, and chess to name a few! I considered signing our child up but had to face the fact- it would be impossible to get him there from our school to theirs in 10 minutes for the after school programs! 

 I questioned. Why not OUR area? Why not OUR school? We have wonderfully inquisitive, intelligent & super tech-ee kiddos in our school! They'd love the opportunity to explore math & engineering thru a fun robotics class. Regarding languages, they are at the perfect age to start learning! And, let's face it- the world is a very diverse & fast moving technological place! Let's bring these opportunies to our children!  

 The following are a list of classes we'd like to bring to our Blackland Prairie Elementary campus:

·        Bits, Bytes & Beyond: Ages 6-7 You’ll build & play with real LEGO® Mindstorms robots & make animated movies that you can take home on CDs.

·        Roaring into Robots: ages 8-14 Learning how to build & program the LEGO® Mindstorms NXT robots! You don't need any experience with robots or programming to begin your robotic adventure.

·        Stop Motion Movie Making: Ages 7-14. If you've ever wanted to direct your own movies or like making up stories, then this class if for you. Using digital cameras, StopMotionPro animation software, & video editing software, students can create animated movies with transitions titles, credits, & scenery. Stories are up to your imagination & no experience necessary! You take the class as many times as you like. Students take home a CD with their movies at the end of class.

·        Game Creation: Ages 8-14 If you think playing computer games is fun, think what a blast learning to program your own games will be. Your imagination is the limit as you use GameMaker software to create maze, strategy, and a variety of other types of games. You can keep making games when you get home as the software is an inexpensive download from the Internet.

·        Spanish I- (for Grades 2-5) by CoolKids Classes. Become friendly with Spanish in the easiest method for children to learn: with pictures, songs & games!  

·        Coversational Spanish-Los Animales: Gr. K-3. Is your child an explorer? Children learn thru songs, games, and crafts in this animal-focused adventure.

·        Passport to Spanish- cultural language lab: Gr. 3-5. Students "travel" to different Spanish speaking countries learning useful travel language and customs, arts, foods, music, & crafts.
