  • Our Worries: Students are currently required to cut their hair short by policy, regardless of whether their hairstyle is formal and well-groomed. We believe this rule is discriminatory because it disproportionately targets students. Many educational institutions in India and overseas have moved away from such strict standards while still maintaining discipline and decorum. We believe that cleanliness and hygiene, not length, should be the criteria for evaluating a student's appearance.
  • Our Suggestion: Allow students to maintain formal, well-groomed hairstyles, even if they aren't very short. Define "acceptable grooming standards" in terms of neatness, cleanliness, and professionalism rather than hair length. Provide clear guidelines while allowing for personal expression in a formal, respectful setting.
  • Why It Matters: Hair serves as a vehicle for cultural identity and self-expression. Personal grooming autonomy fosters self-esteem, mental health, and a more welcoming atmosphere.Promoting personal grooming responsibility cultivates maturity, which is essential for student's growth.

Hairs don't define your character, our age is 20 and we really need to have independence to choose our own haircut and not your engin

Its not really needed, hair is a way to express oneself and it doesn't always directly relate to discipline.

We’re done with this forced haircut rule. It makes no sense and has nothing to do with why we’re here to study, to learn, to grow. Our hair is ours, not the university’s. Stop trying to control us over something that doesn’t affect our education. Drop this rule

Haircut is a personal choice and a commitment to how we want to look and feel. No one should be forced into it.

I completely agree with this statement its not about the length it's about professionality and hygiene of the students

We, the undersigned students, firmly believe that personal grooming choices, including hair length, fall under individual freedom and self-expression, and do not hinder discipline, academic performance, or the integrity of our university. Stopping students at the gate for such reasons not only disrupts their education but also creates an unnecessary barrier to inclusivity and respect. Discipline should be reflected in our behavior, commitment, and academic pursuit—not in the length of our hair. We therefore petition the administration to reconsider and revoke this restrictive rule, ensuring that our university remains a place of learning, growth, and fairness.
