We, the students of Walker High School, are requesting that the school reconsider its current hair color policy. We understand that the school has rules to maintain a focused learning environment, but we believe that self-expression through hair color does not interfere with education and is an important part of our individuality. We also believe allowing students to express themselves through hair color — when it is neat and appropriate — does not harm learning or safety. We ask the school to update the policy so students can choose bright hair colors without punishment.

I completely agree even though I myself do not have unnatural colored hair. However because I am student i can completely confirm that colorful hair dose not impact my learning in any negative manner there for I believe it should be allowed. Especially to show self expression.:)
your hair is one of your only means of self expression during highschool and any attempt to suppress that is both cruel and and disrespectful to their bodily autonomy. children are human beings. colorful hair is not a distraction, those rules are oppressive
The color of my own hair has never once prevented me from learning in the classroom or being a business professional. We should be focused more on student safety (both mental health and physical), and their education than taking away what personal freedom they have to express themselves.
Everyone should be allowed to wear their hair no matter how it looks what color or length it amazes me how y’all want to act like hair is such a distraction when during our teachers time they had bangs they had beads. They had all of the above, but now they want to change us not gonna happen.
Almost everybody that I know has a natural hair color. I work with many people with bright blue hair, and all it does is create joy. It doesn’t cause a distraction. It doesn’t stop people from being the professionals that they are.
Freedom of hair color I can dye my hair for summer and go to school just to get in trouble

i’ve been here 4 years, currently my senior year each year a new color. wether that was blonde and red . black and ink. black and red. blue. purple. why is the color of my hair so infuriating. why is what i decide to do with my hair a problem?
