Final supporters
This petition seeks to re-establish the MASH graduation date to the traditional Friday evening date of the Memorial Day Holiday weekend as previously hosted since 2004.
We do not support the school board’s decision dating back to 2014 to change the MASH graduation date to Sunday, June 2nd, as reflected on the 2018-1019 district calendar for the following reasons:
· Lost employment time for graduates in order to pay for continuing education costs beyond MASH
· Other districts graduating on or before Memorial Day Weekend obtaining the local employment available before MASH graduates
· No additional minutes/days needed for seniors in regards to the State of Wisconsin or the MASH requirements to graduate
· Families unable to travel to attend from afar, as Monday is an active business day
· Several colleges host admissions dates the first week of June
· Gradebooks are often closed for the school calendar year prior to graduation and AP and combined classes are tested out by mid-May
· All active members voting a “yes” vote to the change, minus 1 member, have no students in the district

We have a lot of out of town family that are planning on attending and we are having party on that Saturday it would be nice if we could show off a diploma.
I don't see any added benefit to having seniors graduate in June if the required number of school days is already met.
Graduation on Memorial weekend worked great for my family when my first one graduated because my family is from out of town and state, (and our family isn’t the only)having graduation on a Sunday wouldn’t suffice for for anyone especially if extended family has to travel, Monday is a work day for 99% of the community, do you really want to make 100-200 students make this huge compromise for maybe 1/2 dozen students that MIGHT go to state? Is that really fair?
Graduation was always on a Friday. Senior breakfast, Senior skits... Then the afternoon off before graduation. Why mess with this now?
What reasons have been given for the change? As church attenders, I do not like a school event of such importance being held on a Sunday. It will also change how families and students celebrate this event...will students want to have graduation parties BEFORE graduation? By having it on a Sunday, you also limit celebrations that can happen on the Saturday before. If state requirements are met, why would you not release these students as soon as you can?

A later graduation takes away a weeks pay that our children could have earned toward their college funds. Or from students seeking fulltime jobs after graduation!

Changing graduation takes time kids going straight to the work force have to find a job or start the orientation process. For those going on to school it takes time they could use to make money for when they leave to go off to school.
