Dear Student Parent/Guardian,
Due to the inclement weather, Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology was forced to add two more days to the academic school year. Due to this, the high school graduation day was rescheduled to June 19, 2017 when it was originally June 15, 2017. Since the date was abruptly changed, many of my classmates and their families do not have the option to reschedule or alter their post graduation plans. Thus, many of my classmates cannot walk across the stage to receive their hard earned diploma, an accomplishment they have been waiting four years to obtain.
We are proposing a new solution where the graduation ceremony itself will be on June 15th and the last day of school will still be the 19th, that way the seniors who cannot attend the 16 and the 19 can utilize their unexcused absent days. That way PCSST can complete the state requirement of 180 days of student instruction and our graduation won't be compromised.

As a parent I would have appreciated a reason for the date change in the original notification. Also we have relatives who have booked flights for the 15th of June. I think the presented solution is valid and reasonable.
I feel the date of the ceremony should remain June 15 and just have the students come back those two days to finish out the year
My family already paid for non refundable plane tickets months ago. This change is gonna cost us a fortune if they dont move it back to the 15th.
Let's all do this it's only 2 seconds to do and have friends graduate together pretty much how I graduated anyway
My cousin Brittney the skinny one lol need her to graduate & she's going on vacation the 16th of June so change it back please to June 15th

We urge the School's leadership to consider the proposal made by the students. We (and many other parents) had travels plan already set up (dates, tickets, etc) and changing them will have a significant financial impact in our summer budget. I am confident that this petition will be considered and adopted. I am convinced that a school full of smarts future leaders have a strong team of PRESENT leaders. Thanks in advance.
