Please Protect the Learning Stability for our 6th Graders
We are asking the district and school board to urgently reconsider the decision to displace our sixth-grade teacher and require her to leave her classroom by Monday.
This is not simply about changing teachers. It is about the cumulative impact that years of classroom instability have had on this particular group of childre, both academically and emotionally.
These students began kindergarten during COVID and have experienced repeated disruptions throughout their elementary education. Since second grade, they have dealt with teacher departures, extended absences, multiple substitute teachers, and long-term substitutes. In fourth grade, parents were informed that the class had fallen significantly behind academically. In fifth grade, they experienced another mid-year teacher departure and additional transitions before the end of the school year.
They entered sixth grade excited for a fresh start and desperately needed stability. They have already begun developing relationships and trust with their new teacher. Now, only weeks into the school year, they have learned that she must leave their classroom and transition to another assignment by Monday.
We have also learned that the teacher being assigned to take over the class has taught Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for approximately 10 years and has been given only until Monday to prepare to teach sixth grade.
Our concern is not with the incoming teacher or her abilities. We respect her experience as an educator and recognize that this sudden transition places her in an incredibly difficult position as well. However, moving an educator from TK to sixth grade with only days to prepare represents an enormous change in curriculum, academic expectations, and developmental needs—and our children will once again experience the disruption of adjusting to a new teacher and classroom environment.
For a group of students that has already experienced so much educational instability, we believe the potential academic and emotional impact deserves serious consideration before another abrupt transition is made.
We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for stability, continuity, and consideration of these children’s history.
We respectfully ask the district and school board to urgently review this decision before Monday and explore every available option to keep the students with their current teacher.
Our children have spent years adapting to circumstances beyond their control. They deserve the opportunity to experience a stable classroom, consistent instruction, and the security of knowing that the teacher they have begun trusting will still be there tomorrow.
Please sign and share in support of our sixth-grade students and their right to a stable learning environment.

Constant decisions like this are affecting our kids and our school community is such a negative way. We have been at Valley Vista since 2021 and it feels like the great valley vista we did a district transfer for is slowly loosing its spark. Soon less and less parents will even recommend this school to future families like have done so throughout the years.
Valley Vista Elementary School, My grandson attends the sixth grade. I am upset at the fact that you guys are playing with kids feelings by removing teachers for the last couple of years. How emotional it is on the children. It’s their last year in elementary school and we need permanent teachers to some point. Miss Ramirez was very genuine and we were working on things for my grandson to succeed. Why couldn’t this be decided before school started? This is stressful on our children.
I’m signing because this isn’t the first time this specific group of students has had to deal with changes and instability. It keeps happening to them, and at some point we have to consider the impact it has on their learning and emotional well-being. They deserve consistency, especially during their last year before middle school.
Stability is not a luxury—it is essential for children’s academic success and emotional well-being. These students have already endured years of instability, and another abrupt teacher change will only add to those challenges. Please review this decision and prioritize what is best for the students.
!!
Do not make any more changes to the students. They deserve to end the school year and elementary years with stability.
Our 6th graders need their teachers!

The constant instability pla ed on the students and staff is unjust and unfair. This is especially true when it is a known factor that other schools have smaller kinder classes. We have been in constant duress awating a stable permanent staffing set up especially for the upper graded who have continuously been falling through the district's cracks. Keep our newly 6th grade teacher as well as our long time kinder teacher. Stop stretching our staff thin and commit to ensuring putting the child fir
