Open Door and Off The Wall Youth Centre is a program during and after school to help kids get together in a safe and caring place. The staff are there to help or guide you in the right direction if u come to a cross road in your life. We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to keep this program alive. It comes to our concern as a part of this community that this program may come to an end in October. We (the citizens) have all gathered together to try and keep this program alive. This program has helped out a lot of people over the years, by giving us a place to go, and they don’t get appreciated enough for it. "If it wasn’t for this program, youth all over Georgetown and Acton would probably be hanging on the streets, and some of them actually living on them. The Youth Centre Staff provide support and guidance for numerous youth issues, such as bridging the gap between youth and parents, drug and alcohol education, sexual health, dealing with everyday peer pressure, promoting positive youth / police relations and connecting youth to other community services. I’m sure that life wouldn’t be the same without them around. If you dropped by you would get the same warm feeling we all do when we enter the church and look at all the smiling faces on each and every kid, no matter what the age everyone is always happy. So with all the kindness in your heart, PLEASE don’t close this program because I know there will always be someone that needs help or guidance like most of us.
