We, the undersigned, would like to express our interest in keeping and maintaining the West Oak Trails Skateboard Park. The West Oak Trails Skateboard Park is a wonderful addition to the local community both for younger children and teenagers. It provides outdoor stimulation, exercise and a common interest across a wide range of ages. West Oak Trails and Glen Abbey are young and vibrant communities both with very large youth populations. We believe that young people in our community need and deserve access to activities that are positive, healthy and confidence building. The West Oak Trails Skatepark provides our youth a safe, free, appealing place to gather, socialize, and promote physical activity and this is good for our community. We understand that there have been complaints about after hours use and noise. We wish to express that we respect the opinions of these individuals and we too do not condone after hours use of the park (use between dusk and dawn) as it is disturbing to local residents. However, we feel that as a community we need to respect the needs of ALL members especially the youth who deserve to have their voices heard.
