Greetings! The citizens of Bainbridge Island recently voted to support the purchase of the 23-acre Sakai Property across from Ordway Elementary School on Madison Avenue.
As a signer of this petition, you are declaring your support to establish youth athletic fields at this newly conceived park. Youth athletic fields that support the sports of soccer, lacrosse, football, ultimate frisbee and more is what we would like to see. As of today, there is no commitment for fields at this park. Your signature is important to communicate to the Bainbridge Island City Council, Bainbridge Island Planning Commission, Bainbridge Island Parks and Recreation and the Bainbridge Island City Manager.
As a signer, I hereby declare:
- I support youth athletic fields at the Sakai Property Park.
- I support lighted fields for use after daylight hours since we live in a place that gets dark early a good part of the year.
- I am a resident, parent, player or other Island community member who lives on Bainbridge Island, WA 98110 and supports athletic opportunities for Islanders!

The emails I send to the city offices are met with more silence than answers right now. It is exhausting to keep pushing when no one in power seems willing to acknowledge the need for these fields. I am still here because our community deserves a place for these kids to play.

I am all for more fields. Scheduling for our soccer matches is tight, and it seems the schools are reducing our use of their fields. We need another option, and this seems like a great place to put some lights too.
we desperately need youth sports complex closer to town - my son has to take an over-crowded bus to battle field, his team has been turned away from the bus bc there are too many kids on the bus. It would be great for his team to be able to walk to practice!
Benefits: community opportunity to provide avenue for the growth and development of healthy, active kids who learn to play as a team. Including cooperation, sharing and supporting each other.
This would be good for Bainbridge. Let's do it!
I'm all for it. We need the lights to allow the kids to play after 4:30 in the fall and winter.
Most definitely support this
Lets help this town move ahead with Central Park, and lets not forget to include sports fields and lights. Our last, best opportunity. JT

I'd love our community to have facilities that will allow our children to be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle during the dark months (Oct - March).
