We need to get a feel for exactly how many people truly believe we need this type of facility in ONEONTA. Let’s sign this petition to show a positive approach to the city and community in an attempt to get what we need for our children. We need a place for our athletes to play in a competitive environment close to Home. The facility should include areas for practice, tournaments and league play for Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball and others! The sample in the pictures is just that, a sample facility. We are asking the city to provide the land and then will pursue grants and donations for construction. We will be starting with a couple of field spaces for our Soccer and Football teams to use. Then we can add to this as funds permit. The key is to get enough land to accommodate what we foresee as the completed project. We are not asking for millions of dollars from the city.

Seeing two hundred and fifty signatures for our new sports complex is surreal. My kids deserve a place to play right here in town instead of driving hours away every single weekend. This momentum proves that our community is finally ready to build something better together.

We need a soccer complex really bad. We have won two state championship in less than a year and need a true complex to practice. Not an old muddy uneven ground of grass to practice on.
The youth of our county really needs this. Especially our soccer kids, we have nowhere to play that should be considered a field. Our own towns high school team can’t even practice on their own field because track is apparently more important.
We've played soccer in Oneonta for 12 years and always have trouble with using the baseball fields or the rec center field. Every city we travel to invests more in their children. This gets kids excited about their sports and helps to give them something to do.
This is ridiculously overdue for our community. If you continue to refuse invest in our children, you will choke out our county. Our own kids will grow up and move on to areas that can provide better opportunities for their families. Families looking to move here will skip right over us and choose an area with the facilities we are lacking. Let' make this happen!
As someone who plays sports recreationally and for the city of Oneonta, I think that this sports complex will have a huge impact on the overall PR of our city and increase the amount of players, thus giving the city more money.
This will help the community and we could start flag football

My kids have been involved with youth sports in Oneonta for a few years now. I myself have coached youth football and baseball here for 4 years. It would be great to give the kids a facility such as this. It's tough during football season having to share the baseball/ softball fields with soccer teams that are practicing and playing games.
