Over the last four years, Westdean Close, Malva Close and Marcus Terrace have seen a surge in violent, physical assaults. On the 9th July - yet another assault took place. The assaulants were armed with a knife and glass bottle and resulted in a 20 year old male being taken to hospital. All the major incidents in the immediate area of Westdean Close, Malva Close and Marcus Terrace have been as a direct result of fighting between students at our local college. The reason they have targeted our strip of neighbourhood is due to it ending in a cul-de-sac and their being a lack of CCTV cameras in the immediate vicinity. Amongst the surge in assaults, we have had an increase in residential burglaries, motor vehicle vandelism and anti-social behaviour. Whilst majority of the issues we have are directly linked to students of the local college, the increase in burglaries and vehicle crime further supports the need for CCTV equipment being installed. We are a community of families and retired persons. The residents are becoming increasingly worried and the police have their hands tied - no statement, no result! We are petitioning that Wandsworth Borough Council please install two sets of CCTV equipment to cover the Marcus Terrace/Westdean Close/Malva Close area in an attempt to deter this criminal behaviour. List of issues including: increase in knife crime; increase in drug use within our cul-de-sac; anti-social behaviour towards residents; anti-social behaviour towards peer groups; loitering; fly-tipping; residential burglary; attempted residential burglary; vehicle vandalism; vehicle theft; dumping of stolen vehicles and motor bikes.
I have finalized the formal proposal for the Wandsworth Borough Council procurement department. This document outlines the documented incidents of violence and the resulting safety risks for our streets. I am currently coordinating with local police representatives to attach their crime reports to our final submission.

The scale of support has provided the necessary leverage to formally request a meeting with the Wandsworth Borough Council safety committee. I am finalizing the briefing document that details our specific incident data to present during this session.

My car was keyed twice last month. Im tired of looking over my shoulder whenever I walk to my own front door. Get some cameras up here before someone actually ends up dead.

Ridiculous that this has been going on for years and nothing gets done. Kids from that college think they own the place. Cameras are the only way to stop this

So scary. I won't go out after dark anymore. Wandsworth council needs to wake up and see what is happening on our streets.
