We the undersigned, residents, businesses and visitors of Lower Sydenham declare this petition for a safer neighborhood by providing CCTV where needed.
Criminal activity has contributed to a sense of fear and loss of life in our community, much so over the past decade and is rising dramatically.
We need a solution to the anti-social behavior and the damage to our businesses in this rural part of Sydenham, There are three Primary Schools and a nursery school in lower Sydenham where most of the traffic from these schools use the main road to commute, none of which is being covered by CCTV
On Sydenham Road at the junction of Kent House going up towards the busier part of the high street there are a total of seven visible CCTV cameras, From the junction of Kent House Road going down Sydenham Road towards Bell Green there is no CCTV what so ever.
We are requesting that cameras be placed at:
1. The junction at the old bath house Bell Green/Sydenham health center and Sydenham road which could provide a 180 degree view of Sydenham Road and Perry Hill.
2. Sydenham Library, 210 Sydenham Road. This is basically the middle part of Lower Sydenham which could provide a 180 degree view of the lower part of Sydenham Road including the entrances to Home Park.

I have spent this week walking the stretch between the bath house and the library to document the lack of coverage while thinking about the families who walk these same paths to school every morning. Seeing the damage to our local businesses and hearing your stories of fear confirms that we cannot wait for another incident to happen before we demand real security for our neighborhood.

Seeing this grow makes me feel like our neighborhood is finally being taken seriously after years of being ignored. I kept thinking about the walk to school every morning and how much safer those children will be once we secure this funding. Your energy is exactly what pushed this forward.

DO IT. The amount of speeding and mess round the schools is getting out of hand. someone is going to get hurt soon.
Fed up with the constant vandalism on my street. Cant even walk to the shop at night without feeling nervous. cameras are long overdue.
