Petition in support of appeal against enforcement action at Oxford Wakeboard & Ski Club
I am familiar with the Queenford Lakes Watersports Centre, OX10 7PQ and over the past 10 years or more, I have witnessed caravans being parked at the site (as well as other forms of temporary overnight accommodation) and being used for purposes ancillary to the recreational use of the lakes.

I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the planning department to discuss the enforcement history at Queenford Lakes. Additional documentation regarding the long term usage of the site is currently being compiled for our next appeal filing.

The ability to park caravans is essential for training of the British Teams. The British Waterski teams bring back many medals from world championships every year. I am an International Waterski judge and we need to do everything possible to support our athletes
As a regular armed forces user of this lake the caravans allow me somewhere to stay. My drive to the lake is around 2 hours each way and so they allow me to ride at the lake on a Saturday and Sunday without driving for 8 hours.
The only people impacted by this enforcement will be the users of the lakes- of which many are serving and retired members of the Armed Forces who would be directly impacted in their ability to participate in the activities provided by the facility.
This club provides an important facility to the sporting pursuits of the RAF and Army, the caravans are a low impact, low cost method of enhancing the access to the sport for all, the local authority should be actively supporting this facility that is producing athletes that represent the nation on the world stage!
I have kept and used my ski boat at these lakes for over 25 years and i can categorically confirm that there have always been people staying overnight on site whether in caravans or fishing tents or motor homes etc. I am willing to give evidence in support of this appeal inquiry if required.
This is a recreational facility. The council need to see sense and get their priorities right. Camping and outdoor activities go hand in hand and should be encouraged not limited.
We have just been for am amazing swim and run at the lake with a large group of kids. It was good to see so many families enjoying the great outdoors! The council should be fully supporting these kind of activities. I despair this petition is necessary!!

Though I do not ski or fish, I have three very good friends (all families), who use these facilities. Two are nurturing talented young sons / daughters who are already or will be in the British Water Skiing team. Without the use of temporary accommodation, the parents task would be severely affected.
