Owners and community members,
We, the members of the Dog Park Committee, are petitioning the Board to install a dog park for community use. One of the requirements for consideration is a show of support from 1/3 of the owners. We are establishing this petition to gather signatures to demonstrate support of a community dog park. While the petition can only be signed by owners as a show of interest, other community members are more than welcome to assist the committee in planning and obtaining the support necessary to move forward (such as passing the petition along to your landlord so they can sign it).
Given the
number of dogs out walking this spring, it's clear our community is already
animal-friendly. However, the committee believes there's considerable
benefit to creating a fenced-in, dedicated space away from traffic for dogs to
run and play. This would allow dog-owners to associate and socialize
while ensuring the dogs in our community have a safe space to get sufficient
exercise - resulting in calmer, happier dogs and less disruption to bike riders
and walkers, etc.
Although we have not finalized a location, the current proposal would be to locate the dog park in the Northeast corner of the current green space - beyond the barriers, at the end of Hampshire Lane. In agreement under terms and conditions as described in respect to location in the petition document. As highlighted by other community members, it should be developed within a larger plan for green space including fencing cost, maintenance cost and financial magnitude towards association budget. Please work it out to necessary details and put if for vote in Association Meeting in September.
This is an excellent idea so that all the dogs in our community can have place to roam free and be dogs. It will also allow them to become friendly and familiar with one another.
Unit 402. Our dog needs a place to run and this would be perfect. Just keep an eye on the maintenance fees.
The Dog Park is a good idea, and I would support it within the context of an overall Master Plan for the green space. As is, the green space detracts from the value and beauty of our community with concerns for safety, lighting, blight, dumping etc... If we could arrive at something more "planned", including great ideas like the Dog Park, we could find a fantastic balance of natural space, used space, and possibly more units for the betterment of the entire community. Within that context, a Dog Park would certainly be something I'd support!
Yes please! It would be so much easier to have a safe, gated spot close by instead of having to drive to the public park every single afternoon.

I agree with Jeroen -- present a cohesive plan and budget that includes future maintenance costs to enable owners to make an informed decision and put it to vote at an Association meeting. I like the idea of it, but I don't like the idea of increasing our HOA fees to cover it.
