The Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC is home to a high number of dog owners, but few people have yards or access to open spaces suitable for exercising their canine friends.
Capitol Canines are working to establish a sanctioned dog park at the intersection of Potomac Avenue and 11th Street, SE, for the benefit of the community.
Whether you own a dog, or just love them, please sign this petition. Neighborhoods with dog parks benefit from a heightened sense of community, safer streets and higher property values.
We all win when open spaces are developed for our use!
Thank you.
I was walking past the corner of 11th and Potomac earlier and honestly it is just such a waste of space currently when it could be filled with dogs chasing balls. People keep messaging me about how hard it is to find a patch of grass that is actually safe for their pups so I am trying to get a meeting together with the local council office to show them this pile of signatures. It is a slow process and I am easily distracted by my own dog pulling me toward the park but I promise I am still pushing this forward.

Finally! Walking to Navy Yard is way too far when we have this space right here.

My pup needs a place to run. The sidewalks are just too crowded and it makes for a stressful walk.

Used to live right there and it was always just messy grass. Lets actually use it for something good.

This would be so much safer than letting dogs run loose in the little play areas. Big yes.
